water filters in africa

water filters in africa
please help i need fundraising ideas?

i am in a high school group of 8 freshmen and sophomores working on a group promoting water conservation. In this group we are also looking to help the thirsty. we are buying special filtering water bottles and shipping them to kenya africa do they’d have clean disease and bacteria free water ! Unfortunately, we have no money and the bottles and shipping is extremely expensive so we need major fundraiser ideas.

I am the fundraising director and I need help.
NO car washes
NO dog washes
because were promoting water conservation

Any ideas ?

raffles & bake sales & garage sales aren’t very popular in our area.
So . . . any cheap ideas. I say cheap because we have almost no money now as we are a new group.

Thank you all ideas are helpful ! ! !
p.s – i go to a small private school (7 – 12) consisting of 290 people just incase that helps at all

You don’t say where you are living. It’s difficult to give you ideas without any knowledge of the population of your area. Your best bet would be to spend your time writing letters to corporations asking for cash donations. Running penny ante bake sales or selling gift wrap paper door to door will take forever and bring in almost nothing. Your time would better be spent getting together with your committee and an advisor, and writing letters explaining your vision, and send it to corporations. Also, spend some time researching other groups who make donations to the same places in Africa that you are considering sending the bottles to. You may be able to include your shipment with theirs for free. For instance, I collect unused laboratory supplies from clinical trial researchersd and send these supplies to countries that cannot afford medical supplies. I talked to a lot of doctors and people I know in my church who do missionary visits to poor countries. When a group of those people is going on a mission trip I give them as much supplies as they can split up and carry between them, included in their luggage allowance, and they deliver the items to the region they are going to. When I have lots of supplies accumulating in my garage I send it to a central warehouse in Canada that collects medical supplies and then sends them out to countries who ask for them. They get their money from corporate donations and personal donations and can afford to purchase a container on a ship which they fill with supplies from the warehouse, including my lab supplies. I do pay for shipping the supplies from my house to the warehouse in another part of the country, but I believe that if I asked I could get the bus company to take it for free. You just have to be willing to spend the time writing good business letters outlining your plans and telling people exactly how you plan to do things, and you will find that there are corporations and transportation companies out there who would be willing to help you. Trying to raise the cash by doing fundraisers is almost impossible.
